    TAITRA Announces Cancellation of 2020 Taipei Cycle+ and TaiSPO+

    TAIPEI, Taiwan – This morning Taipei Cycle Show organiser TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) announces the cancellation of the new Taipei Cycle+ and TaiSPO+ events that were scheduled for 14 to 16 May. This decision comes as Taiwan, like many other governments all around the world, placed restrictions on events as well as international travel.

    Despite COVID-19 Selle Royal and Others in Northern Italy Up and Running

    POZZOLEONE, Italy – Despite the COVID-19 outbreak in Northern Italy the industry there is up and running. Selle Royal confirmed this today in a statement that says “Our Italian production site is fully operative and offering a totally normal level of production and services.” Selle Royal is not the only manufacturer operating normally in Lombardy and Veneto; the regions that are in particular hit badly by the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Factories are operational. But it’s certainly not business as usual. Strict health protocols are in place for the staff of the many companies located here.

    TAIPEI, Taiwan – Amid latest news from China that the Coronavirus brings every day lesser numbers of casualties, updates from Taiwan point to the fact that the country’s show organizer is doing its upmost to turn Taipei Cycle+ into a success. The 3-day event taking place May 14 to 16, 2020, as an alternative for the cancelled Taipei Cycle Show, will be a special edition of Asia’s largest trade fair for the cycling industry for which visitors get special incentives.

    EU Temporarily Suspends Trade Preferences for Cambodia

    BRUSSELS, Belgium – Yesterday, the European Commission has temporarily withdrawn tariff preferences for specific products granted to Cambodia under the Everything But Arms (EBA) arrangement over concerns related to serious human and labour rights violations. EBA is a condition of EU's Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) under which Cambodia enjoys an import duty free status for goods (including bikes) that the country exports to the EU member states.

    First Reactions on Taipei Cycle Show Postponement to 14 to 16 May

    TAIPEI, Taiwan – The first reactions from industry sources on this morning’s news that Taipei Cycle is postponed to May 14 to 16, 2020, is that it will bring major changes to the Show. Changes that go beyond size; the number of exhibitors and exhibition area. The character of Taipei Cycle, where products were always at the forefront, will be different. Next May’s Show will be much more devoted to preserving and intensifying relationships as well as establishing new contacts.

    Taipei Cycle Organizer Surveys Industry on Postponement or Cancelation of 2020 Show

    TAIPEI, Taiwan – Amid a growing number of reports that scientists are close to the development of a medicine against the coronavirus, the latest news from Taiwan is that earlier this week Taipei Cycle Show organizer TAITRA mailed a survey to in Taiwan based exhibitors of this year’s show with which it is collecting opinions on a possible postponement or cancellation on next month’s event.

    EBMA President: ‘E-Bike Production in EU To Triple in Next Five Years’

    MADRID, Spain - Just over a year after the entry into force of the anti-dumping duties on the import of electric bicycles from China, the president of the European Bicycle Manufacturers’ Association, Moreno Fioravanti, takes stock of the effects of the measure. He does that in a recently published interview with the Spanish trade journal for the sports sector, CMD Sports. According to the EBMA president e-bike production in the EU has seen a more than 100 percent growth in just one year. And much more is to come in the next five years; not only due to the anti-dumping measures.
